Guidance in English
After the Battle of Hampton Roads in March 1862, the United States Naval Department ordered a large number of armoured battleships. And already in April 1862, John Ericsson prepared drawings for a very large, 4,000-ton monitor with a streamlined hull and powerful propulsion system, designed for service on the open sea.
Joining the Fleet in December 1864, the Dictator was too late for the major battles. Placed in reserve in September 1865, the ship was recommissioned in 1869 and served until 1871, when it was again placed in reserve. It was hastily recommissioned in 1874 due to the conflict between the United States and Spain. In 1883, it was sold for scrap.
It is a small model with a fairly high level of difficulty, recommended for experienced model-makers.
